From 4 to 20 November, Celje and Ljubljana will be hosting the largest women’s sports event in Slovenia since the country gained its independence, together with Skopje and Podgorica – the 15th European Women’s Handball Championship.

Today, the Government Office for Development and European Cohesion Policy officially submitted the Programme for the Implementation of the European Cohesion Policy 2021–2027 to the European Commission. The Postojna Cave is expecting new olm babies. One of the females laid new eggs earlier this summer. These have been developing successfully and almost all of the babies have already seen the »darkness of the cave«. The famous litter from 2016 is now joined by new dragon babies.

This year’s European Mobility Week, taking place between 16 and 22 September, is marked by a day of free rail transport organised by the Ministry of Infrastructure in cooperation with the Slovenian Railways. More than 100 Slovenian municipalities participated in this year’s European Mobility Week.

Chef Ana Roš has once again been ranked among the ten best chefs in the world, as chosen by culinary connoisseurs The Best Chef Awards. Placed ninth, she is the highest placed woman in the ranking.

In 2021, 76% of residents of Slovenia (15–84 years) were daily mobile. Of the total number of trips, men made 51% and women 49%. Men were drivers of a car on 62% of their trips, while women drove on 49% of their trips.
