Minister Fajon attending 10th Anniversary Berlin Process Summit

Archival Legacy of Karel Smolle
Recently, the Archives of the Republic of Slovenia acquired the written legacy of Karel Smolle. Presented here as this month's archivalia are some interesting documents, such as the ballot paper that Smolle used to prove that, as a federal representative, he did not vote for Kurt Waldheim in the 1986 Austrian presidential election. There is also an anonymous letter, which shows that the anti-Slovenian sentiment in Carinthia, Austria, was still rather toxic just 15 years ago.

Minister Matej Arčon at the 19th meeting of the Slovenian-Hungarian Joint Commission
Deputy Prime Minister and Minister for Slovenians Abroad, Matej Arčon, as chairman of the Slovenian delegation, today co-chaired the 19th meeting of the Slovenian-Hungarian Joint Commission for Monitoring the Agreement on Guaranteeing the Special Rights of the Slovenian National Minority in the Republic of Hungary and the Hungarian National Community in the Republic of Slovenia.

Annual Meeting of the European Nuclear Security Regulators Association
Between 25 and 26 September 2024, the Slovenian Nuclear Safety Administration (SNSA) hosted the annual meeting of the European Nuclear Security Regulators Association (ENSRA) for the first time since joining this association of competent authorities for nuclear security back in 2008.

The Archives of the Republic of Slovenia completed the first stage of its move to new location
Between September 2 and 27, 2024, the Archives of the Republic of Slovenia completed the first stage of its move to its new location at Poljanska Road 40. Archival records, which were temporarily unavailable during the relocation, are once again accessible to visitors in our reading room at Zvezdarska Street 1. The reading room will during the relocation continue to operate according to the summer schedule, i. e. Monday to Friday from 8 am to 2 pm.

Call for tenders for enhanced air connectivity of Slovenia - 6th deadline
On the basis of the Act on Aid to Ensure Enhanced Air Connectivity (hereinafter reffered as: the Act), a Public Tender for Enhanced Air Connectivity of Slovenia was published in the Official Gazette of the Republic of Slovenia and the Official Journal of the European Union on 27. 9. 2024. In accordance with the first paragraph of Article 10 of the Act, the tender documentation is publicly published, however, the English translation is merely an information aid for foreign air carriers when preparing applications for aid.
The application for aid and Annexes must be submitted in Slovene language. Submission deadline is 28. 10. 2024 at 23.59 -

In 2023, 1.3 billion international tourist arrivals were generated in the world. In Slovenia foreign tourists generated 72% of overnight stays. They visit Slovenia because it is a safe country.

Ministry recognises the importance of development regions
Minister Dr Aleksander Jevšek attended an event marking the 30th anniversary of the Koper Regional Development Centre. In his speech, the Minister underscored the importance of development regions; the ministry hopes to see them stronger in the future, including thanks to the incoming amendments to the Balanced Regional Development Act.

122nd regular session of the Government of the Republic of Slovenia
At today’s session, the Government approved the draft state budgets for 2025 and 2026 and the proposed Act on the Common Foundations of the Salary System in the Public Sector, which represents a milestone that will improve the regulation of the salary system in the Slovenian public sector. It also adopted the proposed new amendments to the Deposit Guarantee Scheme Act.
