EUR 49 million of EU funding for Karavanke railway tunnel
Government Office for Development and European Cohesion Policy has issued a financial support decision for the project “Safety and technical upgrade of the Karavanke railway tunnel”. The project worth EUR 79.3 will be implemented by the Slovenian Infrastructure Agency and will receive EUR 49.2 of Cohesion Fund support.

EU funding for sewerage in Drava River basin in Maribor
Government Office for Development and European Cohesion Policy has issued a financial support decision for the project “Collection and treatment in the Drava River basin – Urban Municipality of Maribor”. The project worth EUR 11 million will be implemented by the Urban Municipality of Maribor and will receive nearly EUR 4.3 million of European Regional Development Fund support.

Government Office for Development and European Cohesion Policy has issued a financial support decision for the project “Infrastructural modernisation of the craft and industrial zone Nasipi”. The project worth over EUR 2.8 million will be implemented by the Municipality of Trbovlje and will receive nearly EUR 1.74 million of European Regional Development Fund support.

Government Office for Development and European Cohesion Policy has issued a financial support decision for the project “Izola cycle route”. The project worth a little under EUR 1.9 million will be implemented by the Municipality Izola and will receive EUR 763,000 of European Regional Development Fund support.

EU funding for co-financing operating costs for companies in tourism and hospitality sector during the COVID-19 epidemic
Government Office for Development and European Cohesion Policy has issued a financial support decision for the project “Co-financing of operating costs for companies in tourism and hospitality sector during the COVID-19 epidemic”. The project worth EUR 10 million will be implemented by the public agency SPIRIT and will receive over EUR 7.2 million of European Regional Development Fund support.

EU funding for the sewerage system in the Kolpa river basin available also to Municipality Črnomelj
Government Office for Development and European Cohesion Policy has issued a grant decision for the project “Wastewater discharge and treatment in the Kolpa river basin – Municipality Črnomelj”. Total project funding amounts to nearly EUR 3.6 million of which a little less than EUR 1.6 million is Cohesion Fund contribution. Cohesion Fund support has recently also been awarded to Municipality Metlika for wastewater discharge and treatment in the Kolpa river basin.

Government approves draft National Recovery and Resilience Plan
At today’s session Government of the Republic of Slovenia took note of and approved draft National Recovery and Resilience Plan that shall serve as the basis for drawing on the funding available under the Recovery and Resilience Facility (RRF). Slovenia is eligible to EUR 5.2 billion of which EUR 1.6 billion is available as grants and EUR 3.6 billion as loans.

Minister Černač visits the Koroška region: “EU funding of the Just Transition Fund available also to the Mežiška dolina valley.”
In the framework of the Government visit to the Koroška region Zvone Černač, Minister for Development and EU Cohesion Policy, met with the representatives of the Koroška region municipalities, namely the municipality of Vuzenica, Ravne na Koroškem Prevalje, Črna na Koroškem and Mežica. In Mežica Minister Černač and Minister for Economic Development and Technology, Zdravko Počivalšek, opened the access road the Museum Peca Underground. At the end of the regional visit Minister Černač attended the public Government gathering.

Government Office for Development and European Cohesion Policy has issued a grant decision for the call for proposals “Research and development projects to remedy the consequences of COVID-19”. The funding available under the said call for proposals amounts to EUR 5 million of which EUR 4 million is European Regional Development Fund contribution.

Monitoring Committee approves 2019 Annual Implementation Report
Members of the Monitoring Committee (MC) of the Operational Programme for the Implementation of the European Cohesion Policy in the Period 2014-2020 (OP 2014-2020) met for the 7th regular meeting in Brdo pri Kranju. Most of them participated in the meeting via video conferencing. The meeting was opened by Zvone Černač, minister for Development and Cohesion Policy who updated the participants on the progress concerning the preparation of the national recovery and resilience plan and the 2021-2027 Cohesion Policy programmes.

EU funding for the upgrade of wastewater infrastructure in the Kolpa River basin
Government Office for Development and European Cohesion Policy has issued a funding decision for the project Wastewater collection and treatment in the Kolpa River basin – Municipality of Metlika. The project with a total budget of EUR 952,000 will receive a contribution from the Cohesion Fund in the amount of nearly EUR 336,000. The project will be implemented by the Municipality of Metlika.

Commemorating European Cooperation Day and celebrating 30 years of Interreg programmes
For the ninth time in a row the European Cooperation Day is commemorated by a series of events taking place throughout Europe. Today we presented the results and importance of cross-border cooperation projects in the cross-border area of Slovenian and Austrian Carinthia. We marked the 30th anniversary of Interreg programmes by planting two trees on each side of the border in the spirit of sustainability and integration. The event was attended also by State Secretary mag. Monika Kirbiš Rojs who underlined the importance of cross-border cooperation programmes.

European Cooperation Day and following the path of privates of the guard
On the occasion of the European Cooperation Day Government Office for Development and European Cohesion Policy, in cooperation with project partners of the project Mura Raba Tour, organised the event Following the path of privates of the guard. The event focused on the presentation of the projects implemented under the Interreg cooperation programme Slovenia-Hungary 2014-2020 which have a significant impact of the quality of life in the border area.

Government Office for Development and European Cohesion Policy has issued a funding decision for the project Wastewater collection and treatment in the Sotla River basin – Municipality of Rogaška Slatina. The 2.3 million euro infrastructure project will receive a contribution from the European Regional Development Fund amounting to over EUR 900,000.

Government Office for Development and European Cohesion Policy has issued a grant decision for financial instruments for mitigating the effects of the economic crisis due to the COVID-19 epidemic for the period 2020-2023. The available European Regional Development Fund financing in the amount of EUR 65 million will be managed by SID Bank through the Fund of Funds.

Minister Černač attends opening ceremony of the Sotla nature conservation centre to mark the European Cooperation Day
The nature conservation centre has received funding from the European Regional Development Fund under the project Nature Ties. In his address, the minister underlined the importance of cross-border projects for tackling common challenges in border areas and of working across borders to find common solutions.

This year’s Mediterranean Coast and Macro-regional Strategies Week marked by Slovenian Presidency of the EU Strategy for the Adriatic and Ionian Region
The firth traditional Mediterranean Coast and Macro-regional Strategies Week, organised by Government Office for Development and European Cohesion Policy (GODC) together with Ministry of the Environment and Spatial Planning, Municipality of Izola and numerous other partners, will be marked by various events focusing on Slovenia’s international cooperation in three European macro-regional strategies, namely the Adriatic-Ionian, Alpine and Danube.

EU funding for foreign exchange of students from socially-disadvantaged areas, University of Primorska
Government Office for Development and European Cohesion Policy has issued a grant decision for the programme “Mobility of students from socially-disadvantaged areas for 2019, University of Primorska”. The said programme is one of the several initiatives through which the Ministry of Education, Science and Sport each academic year supports the mobility of students of Slovene universities.

Government Office for Development and European Cohesion Policy has issued a grant decision for the “Call for proposals for the financing of incentives for the start-up of businesses in disadvantaged border areas – COVID 1”. The total amount available under the call for proposals, which was published today by the Ministry of Economic Development and Technology, is EUR 5 million of which European Regional Development Fund contribution amounts to EUR 3.7 million.

State Secretary Kirbiš Rojs addresses participants at the workshop on renewing Slovenia’s Smart Specialisation Strategy

Government Office for Development and European Cohesion Policy has issued a grant decision for the project “Entrepreneurial approach to addressing the challenges in Podravje - PONI Podravje”. The European Regional Development Fund will contribute a good EUR 1 million for the project which is worth almost EUR 1.4 million. This is the last of eight projects within the overall project “Entrepreneurial approach to addressing challenges”, which will be implemented throughout Slovenia. The project aim is entrepreneurial training of people who want to realise an entrepreneurial idea.

EU funding for the restoration and improvement of the conservation status of natural habitats along the Mura river in Pohorje
Government Office for Development and European Cohesion Policy has issued a funding decision for the project Restoration of wetland habitats along the Mura river and Vision Pohorje 2030 – Improving the conservation status of grasslands, water habitats and forest habitats and setting up quiet zones in Pohorje. The two projects, whose total budget will amount to over EUR 6.7 million, will be supported by the European Regional Development Fund with the support totaling more than EUR 5.3 million.

Government Office for Development and European Cohesion Policy has issued a grant decision for the project “Taking an entrepreneurial approach to addressing the challenges in the Primorsko-notranjska development region” and “Taking an entrepreneurial approach to addressing the challenges in the Pomurje development region”. The projects worth over EUR 1.4 million will receive European Regional Development Fund (ERDF) support in the amount of over EUR 1 million. The projects represent two of the eight projects that make up the project “Taking an entrepreneurial approach to addressing challenges” that is to be implemented throughout Slovenia. The goal of the project is entrepreneurial training for people trying to realise their entrepreneurial idea.

Total funding from the European Regional Development Fund available under the call for proposals amounts to EUR 6.2 million. The call for proposals has been published by the Slovene Enterprise Fund.

The EUR 250 million project will receive a contribution from the European Social Fund totaling EUR 200,000 and will be implemented by the National Institute of Public Health.

EU funding for medical and protective equipment in public health institutions
Government Office for Development and European Cohesion Policy has issued a funding decision for the project COVID-19 – medical and protective equipment against epidemic. The project, worth a total of EUR 38.65 million, will be fully funded by the European Social Fund. The cohesion region Vzhodna Slovenija will receive EUR 23.19 million from the project, whereas the remaining EUR 15.46 million will go to cohesion region Zahodna Slovenija.

EU funding for short-time work subsidies
Government Office for Development and European Cohesion Policy, the Managing Authority for the ERDF, the ESF and the Cohesion Fund, has issued a funding decision for the programme COVID-19 – Short-time work subsidies. The programme with a budget of nearly EUR 93 million will be implemented by the Employment Service of Slovenia and fully funded by the European Social Fund. The cohesion region Vzhodna Slovenija will receive EUR 38.64 million from the programme while the remaining EUR 54.35 million will be allocated to the cohesion region Zahodna Slovenija.

Government Office for Development and European Cohesion Policy has issued a grant decision for the project “Drainage and treatment of wastewater in the Soča river basin - Municipality of Miren-Kostanjevica”. The project worth more than EUR 657,000, which will be implemented by the Municipality of Miren-Kostanjevica, will receive Cohesion Fund support in the amount of a little less than EUR 197,000.

EU funding for a new sewerage system in the municipality of Šentjernej
Ljubljana, 15 July 2020 - Government Office for Development and European Cohesion Policy has issued a grant decision for the project “Drainage and treatment in the Krka River Basin - Municipality of Šentjernej”. The Cohesion Fund will contribute EUR 566,000 for the project which is worth more than EUR 1.2 million and will be implemented by the Municipality of Šentjernej.

At yesterday’s United Nations High-level Political Forum on Sustainable Development (HLPF) Zvonko Černač, minister for development, strategic projects and cohesion, presented Slovenia’s second Voluntary National Review of the progress towards meeting the Agenda 2030 Sustainable Development Goals.

EU funding for cycling connection between Radovljica and Lesce

EU funding to improve flood protection and resilience
Ljubljana, 22 June 2020 – Government Office for Development and European Cohesion Policy, the Managing Authority for the ERDF, the ESF and the Cohesion Fund, has issued a funding decision for the project Ensuring flood protection in the Drava river basin - Ptujska Drava river. The EUR 15 million flood protection project will receive a contribution from the European Regional Development Fund amounting to over EUR 11.4 million. The project will be carried out by the Slovenian Water Agency.
