A meeting of the heads of state and government of the NATO alliance is taking place in Washington, attended by the Prime Minister Robert Golob, the Deputy Prime Minister and the Minister of Foreign and European Affairs Tanja Fajon and Minister of Defence Marjan Šarec. At 19:00 CET, the meeting of the North Atlantic Council will be held in an alliance format, one of the three meetings of this year's summit.

The NATO Summit in Washington began yesterday with a ceremony to mark the 75th anniversary of the North Atlantic Treaty Organisation. The ceremony was attended by Prime Minister Golob and Tina Gaber, Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of Foreign and European Affairs, Tanja Fajon, and Minister of Defence, Marjan Šarec.

The Government Office for Slovenians Abroad is proud and pleased to present a musical greeting from Slovenians living abroad on the occasion of Slovenian Statehood Day.

Between June 3 and 4, 2024, the Commission for Relations with Slovenians Abroad and Around the World visited Washington D.C. This visit marked the final leg of a tour through Canada and the USA, which began in Ottawa and included stops in Cleveland and Pittsburgh.

The European Commission adopted a decision to increase short stay Schengen visa (visa type C) fees worldwide by 12 per cent. The increase will apply worldwide as of 11 June 2024.

On May 14, 2024 ambassador Iztok Mirošič presented his Letter of Credence as Plenipotentiary Representative of the Republic of Slovenia to the Caribbean Community (CARICOM) to the Secretary General of CARICOM dr. Carla Barnett in Guyana.

State Secretary Sanja Štiglic and US Assistant Secretary of State for European and Eurasian Affairs James O'Brien hosted the fourth Strategic Dialogue between the two countries in Ljubljana. Established in 2020, the Slovenian-US Strategic Dialogue provides a framework for strengthening bilateral cooperation and exchanging views on all topical issues facing the international community.

Last week, Ambassador Iztok Mirošič attened the 10th Arctic Encounter Symposium in Anchorage, Alaska. He also participated on the panel entitled What happens when the Arctic Doesn't Stay in the Arctic as a guest speaker.

Ambassador Iztok Mirošič participated in the inaugural Western Balkan Salon Roundtable, a collaborative event series hosted by the Atlantic Council and the embassies of the Western Balkan nations in Washington on March 28, 2024.

Ambassador Mirošič attended an informal coffee reception hosted by Assistant Secretary for International Organization Affairs, Ambassador Michele Sison at the U.S. Department of State on March 15, 2024.

State Secretary for International Affairs and National and International Security Vojko Volk paid a productive working visit to Washington D.C. During his time there, he had the privilege of meeting with Assistant Secretary of State for European and Eurasian Affairs, James O'Brien, and Assistant Secretary of State for International Organization Affairs, Michele Sison.

On Saturday, February 24th 2024 Ambassador of the Republic of Slovenia to the United States Iztok Mirošič joined the rally organized by Ukranian diaspora in Washington, D.C. to commemorate the 2nd anniversary of the Russian full-scale invasion to Ukraine.

Prime Minister Robert Golob is attending the 60th Munich Security Conference today and tomorrow. Today he met with the Vice-President of the United States of America, Kamala Harris, and the Secretary-General of the United Nations, António Guterres.

On February 12, 2024, a tourist presentation of Slovenia took place at the embassy of RS in Washington. The Luxury Slovenia company presented Slovenian tourism and opportunities for business cooperation in the tourism field to American travel agents in Washington.

Embassy of the Republic of Slovenia in the United States hosted a presentation and degustation of Slovenian wines on January 31st 2024. Representatives of Klet Krško and Ptujska klet were personally present at the event, organized by Marq Wine Group and was part of the Wines of Slovenia promotion tour in Chicago, Dallas, New York and Washington D.C..

On January 26, Ambassador Iztok Mirošič had the honor of presenting the Letter of Credence from Slovenian President Nataša Pirc Musar to the esteemed First Vice President Brunner in Costa Rica. Subsequently, Ambassador Mirošič participated in substantive discussions with President Chaves and Minister for Foreign Affairs and Worship, André Tinoco.

On December 8, 2023, the American-Slovenian Club (ASC) was formally established in Washington D.C., USA, to help Slovenian businesses in the USA better connect with the diaspora and to foster stronger collaboration among American Slovenian experts, entrepreneurs, professionals, and individuals.

The Embassy of the Republic of Slovenia in Washington, in collaboration with the Government Office for Slovenians Abroad and the American Slovenian Education Foundation (ASEF), organized a Symposium on Artificial Intelligence that highlighted the exceptional contributions of Slovenian researchers who work in the United States.

On September 15, 2023, newly appointed Slovenian Ambassador to the United States of America Iztok Mirošič attended a ceremony at the White House, in which he formally presented his Letter of Credence from the Slovenian President Nataša Pirc Musar to U.S. President Joseph R. Biden. He also conveyed greetings from the Prime Minister Dr. Robert Golob.
