Virtual archival reading room and registers of the Archives on Monday, October 11, 2021 temporarily unavailable
Due to urgent maintenance work on the infrastructure of the Archives of the Republic of Slovenia, the Virtual Archival Reading Room and registers of the Archives will be inaccessible on Monday, October 11th, 2021, between 6.30 am and 8 am.

Virtual archival reading room is now in production environment
On September 14, 2021, Virtual Archival Reading Room entered production environment and is now available to anyone who wishes to gain access to archival records.

Entry to the Archives of the Republic of Slovenia allowed only to visitors who meet RVT rule
We wish to inform our visitors that following the provisions of the Decree on the Method of Meeting the Condition of Recovery, Vaccination and Testing to Cure the Spread of SARS-CoV-2 virus, only those who submit proof of meeting Recovered – Vaccinated – Tested (RVT) rule will be allowed entry to the Archives of the Republic of Slovenia.
The RVT rule is not mandatory for persons under the age of 12.

Memorandum and Letter of the Regional National Liberation Committee for the Slovenian Littoral and Trieste Presented to the Inter-Allied Boundary Commission
On March 7, 1946, members of the Inter-Allied Boundary Commission arrived to Trieste to compile a report and to suggest the drawing of the state border between Yugoslavia and Italy. On March 11, 1946, the commission received the representatives of the Regional National Liberation Committee for the Slovenian Littoral and Trieste and was presented with their memorandum. The memorandum consisted of three parts, all aimed to justify the necessity for the entire Julian March and Trieste to be assigned to Yugoslavia.

Notice to users of the reading room of the Archives of the Republic of Slovenia
To ensure a safety distance (at least 1 meter), the archive reading room can be visited by up to 10 users at a time.

Reading room re-opened
Reading room of the Archives is again opened for visitors. Prior to visit you are kindly asked to contact the reading room service to book an appointment. Admittance without an appointment is currently not possible.

Following the guidelines of official authorities, the Archives of the Republic of Slovenia will be closed from April 1st, 2021 until further notice. To obtain information or data from archival records, please contact the archive in writing by regular mail or e-mail or during office hours by telephone.

75 years of the Archives of the Republic of Slovenia as an independent institution
The Archives of the Republic of Slovenia - the central and largest archival institution in Slovenia - is currently celebrating its 75th birthday. Namely, on October 31, 1945, the National Government of Slovenia issued a decree establishing the Central State Archives of Slovenia and Archival Council.

Archives of the Republic of Slovenia Receives the Title of Disability-Friendly Employer
During the REHA meeting in Portorož on September 29, 2020, the Archives of the Republic of Slovenia received an award for its good practice and policy in employing people with disabilities in 2019. The Archives also received the title Disability-Friendly Employer.

Changes in Reading Room Procedures at the Archives of the Republic of Slovenia
Due to the deterioration of the epidemiological situation regarding COVID-19 the use of masks is mandatory on all premises of the Archives of the Republic of Slovenia from September 23th, 2020. When handling archival records the use of gloves is also mandatory. Visitors may enter the Archives only by prior appointment and after their date of arrival has been confirmed by the reading room staff.

Due to technical upgrades of the database the ScopeQuery search engine will be disabled from September 4th, 2020.

Temporary Changes in Reading Room Procedures at the Archives of the Republic of Slovenia
Following the guidelines issued by the National Institute of Public Health and the Ministry of Culture of the Republic of Slovenia, the reading room of the Archives of RS partially re-opened its door on June 8, 2020. The reading and information office are now open to visitors according to summertime working hours. Visitors may enter the Archives only by prior appointment and after their date of arrival has been confirmed by the reading room staff.

Due to the officially announced Coronavirus disease COVID-19 epidemic and the recommendations of the competent authorities, we inform you that the Archives of the Republic of Slovenia will be closed for all visitors and users from March 13, 2020 until further notice.

On Monday, December 2, 2019, the reading room of the Archives of the Republic of Slovenia is opening an information office, where visitors are welcome to use lists of our archival records and other finding aids, order archival records, or obtain information about the use of such records.

Although it was recently discovered within the scientific project Slowolf that in Slovenia there hasn't been a case of wolf attacking humans for the last 100 years, the report written by the deputy representative of the Ribnica District Department of National Security paints a different story. Namely, in winter 1945 two members of OZNA had a rather unpleasant experience with wolves in the wooded hinterland of Ribnica.
