The Archives of the Republic of Slovenia completed the first stage of its move to new location
Last week, the Archives of the Republic of Slovenia completed the relocation of a part of its archival holdings and of the entire collection of its archival library from Zvezdarska Street 1 to Poljanska Road 40 and Kapusova Street 4 (the building complex of the former military barracks along the Roška Road). We relocated 29 archival fonds and collections (around 2,300 running metres of archival records) from the current repositories at Zvezdarska Street 1 to our new repositories at Kapusova Street 4 and Poljanska Road 40. The relocated materials include archival records that, according to more than a decade of reading room statistics, are the most frequently used records by our visitors. From September 16, these records are again made available to visitors in our archival reading room. In addition to archival holdings, the entire collection of our archival library, which consists of almost 30,000 units (700 running metres) has been relocated as well.
Archival records that, according to reading room statistics, are less frequently used and do not need to be always readily accessible, have been moved from the repositories at our new location to the repositories at Zvezdarska Street 1. This includes 12 archival fonds (around 2,000 running metres). In total, this September we managed to relocate 5,000 running metres of archival records and library units.
During the relocation, the operation of the archive may be disrupted, so we ask for the understanding of all users of the archival records and other visitors to the archive. In mid-October, the archival reading room at Zvezdarska Street 1 will be closed for a few days. A notice about this will be published on our website in due course.
