Business delegation visits Slovakia

  • Ministry of Foreign Affairs
On the occasion of the official visit by the President of the Republic of Slovenia, Borut Pahor, to Slovakia, a business forum organised by SPIRIT Slovenia and the Slovak partner institution SARIO, in cooperation with the Ministry of Foreign Affairs, was held on 22 July 2020.

The forum brought together 34 Slovenian and Slovak companies and institutions specialising in the fields of circular economy, ICT and smart technologies, automotive industry, e-mobility, and artificial intelligence.

The event was opened by Slovenian President Borut Pahor and his Slovak counterpart and host, Zuzana Čaputova. In his address, President Pahor spoke of his pleasure to note the economic delegation’s focus on green technologies and innovation. He placed particular emphasis on the need to act even more sustainably due to the Covid-19 pandemic and to step up efforts in seeking new opportunities for cooperation. President Čaputova expressed her commitment to strengthening the search for new opportunities in the light of a modern, innovative and (yet) greener economy, pointing out that environmentally acceptable and economically effective objectives are not necessarily mutually exclusive.

The forum then continued with the presentation of the business environments of both countries, and of individual spheres of activity, namely the circular economy, ICT and smart technologies, automotive industry, e-mobility, and artificial intelligence.

The forum was brought to a close with business meetings of Slovenian and Slovak companies. As part of the visit, delegation members and representatives of the Association of Citizens and Enterprises of the Republic of Slovenia and the Slovak Republic held separate meetings with President Borut Pahor and Minister of Economic Development and Technology Zdravko Počivalšek.
