At it's session, the Government discussed the proposal for the Act Determining the Intervention Measures to Mitigate and Remedy the Consequences of the COVID-19 Epidemic for Citizens and the Economy, i.e. the fifth anti-corona package. This is the fifth package of measures that fall under the responsibility of the Ministry of Labour, Family, Social Affairs and Equal Opportunities. The proposed act covers measures on health, labour, social protection, the economy, education, the enforcement of criminal sanctions and justice, agriculture, the economy and food, and infrastructure.

The package of measures introduces or extends the already existing measures, which focus on job protection, care for the elderly and the prevention of the spread of coronavirus infections.

The Office of the Government of the Republic of Slovenia for Macroeconomic Analysis and Development (IMAD) prepared the Autumn Forecast of Economic Trends 2020. In June this year, forecasts for the country’s most important trading partners improved slightly, and confidence indicators also improved with the recovery of activities and the agreement at the EU level on a financial package for the recovery of the European economy. All of the above has had a slightly smaller impact on the decline in GDP than anticipated, so we can expect a gradual, but nevertheless differentiated increase in activity in a number of sectors of industry.

The Government discussed the proposal for the National Demographic Fund Act and will send it to the Economic and Social Council before final approval.
