Prime Minister Janez Janša holds videoconference with German Chancellor Angela Merkel
- Former Prime Minister Janez Janša (2020 - 2022)
Prime Minister Janez Janša held a videoconference today with German Chancellor Angela Merkel. Their discussions focused on the serious spread of the coronavirus.
At a press conference held in the afternoon, Primer Minister Janša said that the German Chancellor offered assistance in the form of critical medical equipment should the need arise. He emphasised that the aforementioned assistance involves equipment such as ventilators and not medical staff. He added that Germany is also facing staffing challenges.
The two politicians also discussed the situation in the Western Balkans.
A great deal of the discussions between Prime Minister Janša and German Chancellor Merkel was linked to the close relations between Germany and Slovenia, and relations in the scope of the trio Presidency of the EU Council that the countries share with Portugal.
