Prime Minister at the video conference of the European Council
On 15 October, the European Council assessed the epidemiological conditions in connection with coronavirus, which are unprecedented and of serious concern. At the time, the leaders agreed on a regular exchange of opinions and measures to contain the spread of the virus.
In their joint statement, the leaders of the EU Member States who gathered at the virtual summit also condemned terrorist attacks in France. "We, the European leaders, are shocked and saddened by the terrorist attacks in France, and we strongly condemn these attacks that represent an attack on our joint values," they wrote in the statement published online by Charles Michel, the President of the European Council.
They added that they stay united and determined in their solidarity with France, the French people and the French Government in the joint fight against terrorism and violent extremism. They called on leaders around the world to strive for dialogue and understanding between communities and religions and not to foster division.
