On Saturday late afternoon and evening, Prime Minister Janez Janša visited University Medical Centre Maribor (UMCM) and the City Municipality of Maribor.

The Prime Minister spoke with the management of UMCM about the situation regarding the COVID-19 epidemic and the necessary investments in increasing healthcare capacities in Maribor and the region.

He then had a meeting with the leadership of the City Municipality of Maribor, namely with Mayor of Maribor Saša Arsenović and Deputy Mayor Samo Peter Medved; the meeting was also attended by deputy of the National Assembly Dejan Kaloh, President of the Council of the UMC Jože Šabeder and City Council member Alen Filipovič. The management of the municipality assessed the meeting as a positive gesture, "because the Prime Minister took the time to listen to the Mayor regarding all outstanding topics between the municipality and the Government of the Republic of Slovenia." The meeting focused on the relocation of the Maribor Administrative Unit, the challenges of the drawing on EU funds and the financing of Maribor municipality projects, with the Prime Minister confirming the financing agreement concluded a day before between Minister of Culture Vasko Simoniti and Mayor Arsenovič.  In January, the entire Government is expected to visit the city.
