- Ministry of Foreign Affairs
- Embassy of the Republic of Slovenia in Bern
They devoted particular attention to bilateral cooperation, including the upcoming high-level visits and economic cooperation, and advocated for a continuation and further strengthening of the close relations between their respective countries.
Director-General Sušnik presented the priorities of the Slovenian EU Council Presidency in the second half of this year, with her counterpart, Director General Piffaretti, outlining the current state of play and outstanding issues connected to the conclusion of an institutional agreement between the EU and Switzerland and Switzerland’s cohesion contribution.
The two went on to exchange information on measures taken in different areas to tackle the pandemic, and views on migration challenges, the situation in the Western Balkans, and the future EU-UK relationship.
They called for continued close cooperation between their respective countries through various regional initiatives: The Alpine Quadrilateral, the Alpine Convention, and the European Union Strategy for the Alpine Region. Traditionally, the two countries have established successful cooperation within international organisations, on human rights, and cross-border water resources, which are vital to maintaining international peace and security.
