Slovenia among top destinations to visit in 2021
The UNILAD team have included Slovenia in their list of the top five best places to visit in 2021. The four-minute video on Slovenia presents viewers with the remarkable beauty of the country’s diverse landscapes. The narrator describes Slovenia as being “criminally overshadowed” by its better-known neighbours but insists that “this tiny country can more than compete with the big boys”. The video highlights Slovenia’s diversity, sustainability and, last but not least, gastronomy, describing it as “foodie heaven” and explaining that Slovenia is European Region of Gastronomy in 2021. The video spotlights some of Slovenia’s best-known attractions, including Bled, Postojna Cave and Ljubljana, while also underlining that the country has “absolutely everything”.

The Soča Valley has been chosen as one of the top ten European Best Destinations for 2021. With the city of Braga in Portugal chosen as the overall winner and named European Best Destination 2021, the Soča Valley was classified ninth, Soča Valley Tourism reports.
Travellers voting for this year’s top ten destinations chose Rome for the number two spot, while Cavtat in Croatia came third. The other destinations were Florence (Italy), Sibiu (Romania), Paris (France), Kefalonia (Greece), Kotor (Montenegro), the Soča Valley (Slovenia) and the Canary Islands (Spain).
According to European Best Destinations, the Soča Valley is a “perfect nature destination for families, sportspeople, lovers…” and “just what you need” if you are looking for “large spaces, gorges and waterfalls, lakes and caves, rivers but also traditions, know-how and incredible gastronomy.”
Slovenia is described as a country “to put at the top of your travel wish list if sustainable tourism and nature are important to you.” A visit to Bohinj is also recommended.
