Prime Minister Janez Janša meets with members of the Slovenian Bishops’ Conference

Today in Ljubljana, Prime Minister Janez Janša met with Msgr Stanislav Zore, Archbishop of Ljubljana, Metropolitan and President of the Slovenian Bishops’ Conference, and other members of the Slovenian Bishops’ Conference.

The Slovenian Bishops’ Conference was also attended by the Archbishop of Maribor, Metropolitan and Vice-President of the Slovenian Bishops’ Conference, Msgr Alojzij Cvikl, Bishop of Koper, Msgr Dr Jurij Bizjak, Bishop of Novo mesto, Msgr Andrej Glavan, Bishop of Murska Sobota, Msgr Dr Peter Štumpf, Auxiliary Bishop of Ljubljana, Msgr Dr Anton Jamnik, Auxiliary Bishop of Ljubljana, Msgr Dr Franc Šuštar, retired Bishop of Celje, Msgr Dr Stanislav Lipovšek, and the Secretary General of the Slovenian Bishops’ Conference, Dr Tadej Strehovec. 


This is the first such meeting between the Prime Minister and the Slovenian Bishops’ Conference. With this meeting, Prime Minister Janša is continuing the dialogue he is establishing with all major religious communities in Slovenia.


This first meeting with members of the Slovenian Bishops’ Conference was held to discuss the fight against the COVID-19 epidemic in the past year and the role of religious communities in this crisis, the current epidemiological situation, and measures to contain and control the epidemic. The participants also addressed the appropriate awareness and importance of vaccination and the inoculation of the population.
