The counterparts confirmed excellent and friendly relations between the two countries and championed close and constructive cooperation, especially against the backdrop of the Slovenian EU Council Presidency. State Secretary Dovžan underlined the strengthening of the Union's resilience as one of the Presidency’s priority tasks, including in cybersecurity. The pair were in full agreement that the recovery should be oriented towards the green and digital economy, with national recovery plans making an important contribution to achieving this target. They advocated reinforcing transatlantic cooperation, a functioning Schengen system, and supporting the EU perspective of the Western Balkans. They also touched on the Eastern Partnership.

Both Slovenia and Latvia stress the importance of the rule of law and hope for an inclusive debate in the context of the Conference on the Future of Europe, in which young people in particular should be involved.

Parliamentary Secretary Kalniņa-Lukaševica wished the Slovenian side a successful Presidency and expressed Latvia's support for Slovenia in this important task during the coming six months.
