State Secretary Raščan receives Moldovan State Secretary Socolan

The State Secretaries expressed satisfaction with the friendly relations between the two countries and called for deepening cooperation in the fields of institution building, environmental issues and humanitarian aid. They also addressed opportunities for building on the economic potential between Slovenia and Moldova, including in tourism. State Secretary Socolan congratulated his Slovenian colleague on the 30th anniversary of Slovenia's independence.
Jernej Müller, Political Director and Director-General at the Directorate for Common Foreign and Security Policy at the Ministry of Foreign Affairs, briefed State Secretary Socolan on Slovenia's preparations for the EU Council Presidency, during which the EU-Western Balkans Summit and the Eastern Partnership Summit will also be held. The Moldovan side announced the strengthening of cooperation between the associated partners within the partnership and expressed hope for Slovenia's support in the EU's enhanced engagement in resolving the Transnistrian conflict, including in the light of the Slovenian EU Council Presidency.
