EUR 3.8 million in React-EU funding for Novo mesto Intermediate Care Department
- Government Office for Development and European Cohesion Policy
As part of the project, the Ministry of Health will renovate the old department of internal medicine at the Novo mesto General Hospital to provide high-quality non-acute and palliative hospital treatment. The ground floor of the renovated building will serve as the premises of the Non-Acute Hospital Treatment Department for various therapies and workshops, the first and second floor will be used as a room for visiting relatives, the third floor will be used for non-acute hospital treatment and palliative care. As part of this project, the Novo mesto General Hospital will acquire as many as 44 new beds for Covid-19 patients. The Ministry of Health will thus improve the conditions for high-quality healthcare in the Novo mesto General Hospital, and will also contribute to improving the accessibility of health care services in South-Eastern Slovenia.
In 2021, Government Office for Development and European Cohesion Policy has approved EUR 75.1 million from the React-EU initiative to strengthen Slovenia’s health system, namely EUR 20.1 million from the European Regional Development Fund under the React-EU initiative for four intermediate care departments which provide in total 226 beds for Covid-19 patients.
We are thus continuing with our goal of giving EU funding back to the people, also through establishing appropriate healthcare infrastructure and improving healthcare.
