Meeting of State Secretary Dovžan with Serbian Minister of European Integration Joksimović

They agreed that during the Slovenian Presidency of the Council of the EU, excellent cooperation had been established and important progress had been made in the context of Serbia’s negotiation process for EU membership by opening a fourth set of negotiating chapters.
Cooperation between the two countries is extremely diverse, taking place in all areas. Despite the pandemic, economic cooperation has been increasing to mutual satisfaction. The two senior officials also outlined the importance of regional cooperation, with State Secretary Dovžan underlining the imperative to continue the dialogue between Belgrade and Pristina in order to maintain regional stability.
State Secretary Dovžan also took the opportunity of the meeting to present Slovenia’s candidature for a non-permanent seat on the United Nations Security Council for the 2024–2025 term.
As part of his visit, State Secretary Dovžan also met with the State Secretary at the Serbian Foreign Ministry, Nemanja Starović, and separately with the Adviser to the President of the Republic of Serbia for Foreign Affairs, Tanja Jović.
