As Prime Minister Janša wrote on Twitter, Slovenia has been following with concern the developments along the Ukrainian border and the build-up of Russian armed forces along the border. In the telephone conversation, Prime Minister Janša expressed support for his Ukrainian counterpart and for Ukraine's territorial integrity, adding that every country has the right to choose its allies.
Furthermore, they agreed that the Slovenian Prime Minister would visit Ukraine by the end of February. “By supporting Ukraine, the EU and NATO are defending not only a friendly country, but the very foundations on which both alliances are built,” tweeted Janša. He went on to add that since the Kremlin’s threats of attack have been causing significant economic damage to Ukraine and beyond, de-escalation of tensions is urgently needed.
