Prime Minister Janez Janša meets with Saudi Minister of the Economy and Planning Faisal Al-Ibrahim
- Former Prime Minister Janez Janša (2020 - 2022)
The two discussion partners talked about the possibility to strengthen primarily economic cooperation between Slovenia and the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia. They also touched upon the impact of the Ukrainian crisis on the international economy and international relations in general.
Relations between the two countries gained momentum in 2018 and intensified in 2019 and early 2020. The momentum of relations after the COVID-19 pandemic was restored with the visit of the Minister of Foreign Affairs Dr Anže Logar to Riyadh in February 2022 and before that with the visit of the Saudi Minister of the Environment in September 2021. The Kingdom of Saudi Arabia is Slovenia’s most important partner in the Gulf, including in the economic sphere, as the strengthening of trade in 2021 was record-breaking.
