The Honorary Consul in Helsingborg, Sweden, completed his tenure after more than 26 years
At the completion of his tenure, Folke Straube was received by Ambassador Edvin Skrt, who thanked him for his personal commitment and for all his efforts to promote economic, cultural and other cooperation between Slovenia and Sweden and to strengthen friendly ties between Slovenes and Swedes.
Folke Straube was appointed Honorary Consul in 1995 after serving as a mayor of Helsingborg, a city in southern Sweden, for several years. In the period after Slovenia's independence, he was one of the first mayors in Sweden to receive the Slovene community living in Sweden in front of the town hall, whom sought international recognition of an independent and sovereign state.
Ambassador Skrt presented Folke Straube with a thanking letter from the Slovenian Minister of Foreign Affairs, Dr. Anže Logar and the Award of Appreciation and Recognition from the Embassy.
