- Ministry of Foreign Affairs
Political Director and Director-General for common foreign and security policy Jernej Müller attended the 14th session of the Jordan-EU Association Council in Jordan. The session was chaired by Minister of Foreign Affairs of Jordan Ayman Safadi and EU High Representative for Foreign Affairs and Security Policy Josep Borrell and saw the participation of European Commission Olivér Varhelyi and representatives of EU Member States, including ministers of foreign affairs of Cyprus, Luxembourg, Ireland and Greece.
The main purpose of the session was to confirm partnership priorities for the 2021–2027 period and to take stock of progress in EU–Jordan bilateral relations. The chairs also led a discussion on the situation in the region (Middle East Peace Process, Syria, trilateral cooperation between Egypt, Jordan and Iraq) and the Russian aggression on Ukraine.
On this occasion, the Association Council session was held in Jordan, as an exception, to show full support to Jordan as a key partner in the region.
