Start of the 27th Slovenian Book Days
The programme of the first day of the Slovenian Book Days also includes a literary and musical performance by Matej Krajnc following the publication of his trilogy poetry collection, Trimestje, the three sections of which take the reader through the towns of Maribor, Celje and Ljubljana.
Numerous events will take place during the Slovenian Book Days until 19 June. A regular feature of all days will be the Voices of Fabula, which have again taken over Ljubljana and are displayed as a special sound installation. Other installations include the Literature of Light and the Literary Telephone. As part of the Literary Bus project, passages from literary works by Slovenian writers will be displayed on screens in Ljubljana, Maribor and Celje city buses.
The Slovenian Book Days are an all-Slovenian festival, which takes place annually in Ljubljana and its partner towns of Brežice, Sežana, Maribor, Koper, Slovenske Konjice, Lenart, Ormož, Rogaška Slatina, Novo mesto, Celje, Šentilj and Nova Gorica.
The objectives of the festival include raising awareness about the reading culture, direct contact of the audience with authors of different generations and drawing attention to the accomplishments of Slovenian literature. The festival focuses on various topical themes and expands the selection of participants working in the field of culture. By doing so, it connects different generations of literature lovers, authors and publishers, and serves as a popular place where people meet regarding their love of books.
