Prime Minister Robert Golob met with European Council President Charles Michel on the second day of his visit to Brussels and welcomed the European Commission’s proposal to grant EU candidate status to Ukraine
On the second day of his visit, Prime Minister Robert Golob met with the President of the European Council, Charles Michel, and the two interlocutors paid most attention to the war in Ukraine and to the Western Balkans.
In the margins of the visit, the Slovenian Prime Minister also welcomed the European Commission’s proposal to grant Ukraine the status of a candidate for EU membership. "This is an important message to Ukraine, this is what Ukrainians deserve," the Prime Minister said at a meeting with Slovenian journalists. Given the situation in Ukraine, he believes that there will be enough political wisdom among EU Member States and that there will be no blocking these efforts, but rather providing guidance to this country’s EU membership process.
