Velenje secures EU funding to overhaul its bus stops

Government Office for Development and European Cohesion Policy has approved EU funding for the project ITI Velenje Refurbishment of bus stops and cycle shelters. The project aims to foster urban mobility and contribute to improvement of urban air quality. It is supported by the European Union with over EUR 180,000 coming from the European Regional Development Fund.
As part of this EU-funded refurbishment project, Urban Municipality of Velenje intends to carry out refurbishment of nine bus shelters placed along the main roads through Velenje, and set up seven shelters for electric bikes. Quality and sustainability-driven refurbishment project aims to increase public transport use while reducing car use, and contribute to a healthier living environment making the town centre cleaner because of reduced CO2 emissions. The project is scheduled to be completed by the end of 2022.
