Prime Minister Golob has telephone conversation with Ukrainian President Zelenskyy
In his conversation with the Ukrainian president, Prime Minister Robert Golob assured Zelenskyy that, even though there had been a change of government in Slovenia, the country’s attitude towards Ukraine had not changed. He also stressed that on Tuesday the National Assembly had unanimously confirmed the position that Ukraine should be granted the status of a candidate for membership in the European Union.
Ukrainian President Zelenskyy congratulated Prime Minister Golob on his appointment and expressed his gratitude for supporting Ukraine on its path to EU integration.
Today and tomorrow, Prime Minister Golob is attending a European Council meeting in Brussels. The meeting will focus on the situation in Ukraine and enlargement issues. It is expected that the EU Council will approve the proposal to grant Ukraine the status of a candidate for membership in the European Union.
