Prime Minister Robert Golob in favour of granting candidate status to Bosnia and Herzegovina at European Summit
Following the meeting of the leaders of the EU Member States and the Western Balkans and ahead of the meeting of the European Council, Slovenian Prime Minister Robert Golob stressed that both Slovenia and Austria are committed to granting candidate status to Bosnia and Herzegovina as quickly as today and without any additional conditions.
There are several ways to do this, he said, expressing hope that a broader consensus would be reached around one of the options.
"The most important thing is that the people of Bosnia and Herzegovina receive a positive signal from Europe and remain hopeful. Just as we give hope and a European perspective to Ukraine, we must do the same in the case of BiH, which also found itself at war 20 years ago and where hope has been slowly running out," said the Prime Minister.
The Slovenian Prime Minister expects the European idea to prevail over certain open bilateral issues of individual Western Balkan countries, as the people of Bosnia and Herzegovina see their only future as part of the EU.
