The first success of a judicial challenge of the European Public Prosecutor’s Office in Slovenia
The first non-final judgement of conviction of the Maribor Local Court reaffirms the importance of detecting and prosecuting criminal offences that harm the financial interests of the EU. The judgment was made after a long blockade of the appointment of two delegated European prosecutors from Slovenia by the previous government.
Shortly after the Minister dr Dominika Švarc Pipan took up her duties, the Ministry of Justice proposed to the government to appoint 13 state prosecutors; the further strengthening of the state prosecutor’s office and the smooth operation of delegated European prosecutors in Slovenia in prosecuting criminal offences are – as one of the foundations of the rule of law – the objectives that the Ministry is seeking to pursue.
Further information about the first judgement of conviction is available on the website of the European Public Prosecutor’s Office.
