Ensuring the protection of the financial interests of the European Union in the implementation of the Recovery and Resilience Plan
In his introductory remarks, the Director of the Office for Recovery and Resilience, Josip Mihalic, stressed that all stakeholders involved in the implementation of the Recovery and Resilience Plan must ensure an appropriate and effective system of internal controls and other mechanisms to protect the financial interests of the European Union and Slovenia, in particular with regard to the prevention, detection and elimination of fraud, corruption and conflicts of interest.
In their presentations, representatives of the Commission for the Prevention of Corruption, Katja Mihelič Sušnik and Vita Habjan Barborič, touched on all areas and institutions covered by the Integrity and Prevention of Corruption Act (ZIntPK), with a special emphasis on conflicts of interest, the reporting of cases of corruption and the protection of whistleblowers, as well as the anti-corruption clause, lobbying and gifts.
During the second part of the seminar, European Public Prosecutor, Jaka Brezigar, and European Delegated Prosecutors, Tanja Frank Eler and Matej Oštir, presented the work of the European Public Prosecutor's Office in the fight against fraud and irregularities in the implementation of the European budget. The presentation stressed the importance of cooperation with national authorities, particularly in terms of the mutual exchange of information.
The seminar was organised in hybrid form, and was attended by more than 140 representatives of various ministries and those responsible for the implementation of measures, as well as other stakeholders.
