Prime Minister Robert Golob at For a Better Future of Children consultation
The Prime Minister, Dr Robert Golob, today addressed the participants of the For a Better Future for Children consultation at the National Assembly of the Republic of Slovenia. At the consultation, various stakeholders, from NGOs to deputies and representatives of ministries, discussed solutions to improve the situation of children with special needs and children living in poverty and threatened by violence.
“We often say that children are little people with little rights; what I say, though, is that children are indeed little people, but they have special rights and, above all, special expectations,” stressed the Prime Minister in his address. The Prime Minister then pointed out that children with special needs want two things above all: “They want a functioning family or parents who can match their expectations with their children’s abilities and who have society by their side. And like all other children, they want to socialise with their peers.” Dr Golob also stressed that as a society we must also help parents who face daily challenges in both their personal and professional lives.
