Slovenia elects the first female president of the republic in the country’s history
Nataša Pirc Musar will become the first woman to be president of Slovenia. The former journalist and information commissioner assumes the highest political office in the country as a lawyer with no political experience, committed to liberal values and the protection of human rights.
She emphasises that as president she will stand for human rights and the rule of law. She highlights as her priorities the coordination of solutions in four areas she considers to be vital for the development and social cohesion of the country: healthcare and pension system reform, climate neutrality and comprehensive security assurance. At the same time, she considers it essential to maintain and implement sound policies and projects even in the event of a change of power.
