Ambassador Barbara Sušnik presented her Letters of Credence to His Majesty The King of the Belgians
The Presentation of Credentials ceremony was held at the Royal Palace, the official seat of His Majesty in Brussels, Belgium. Ambassador Sušnik was accompanied by Mrs Mateja Blaj, First Counsellor, and Defence Attaché Colonel Aleš Marič. The presentation of letters of credence is a custom dating from the late Middle Ages. A ceremonial reception emphasises the high values and respected relations between the two countries.
Upon presentation of her credential to His Majesty the King of Belgians and on the occasion of 30 years of diplomatic relations with Belgium H.E. Barbara Sušnik hosted Vin d'honneur on 17th of November in the premises of KBC at the Grand Place in Brussels.
After Ambassador Sušnik's welcome address the cultural program took place. A Slovenian – Belgium trio composed of Vesna Zornik, a singer of the Katalena band, one of the most prominent Slovenian ethnic bands, Toine Thys, a central figure for saxophone and bass clarinet in Europe, and Slovenian musician based in Brussels Robert Jukič, who works primarily as a double bassist in jazz and related music performed 3 Slovenian folk songs.
Slovenia and Belgium mark 30 years of excellent bilateral relations and close cooperation on all levels. Friendly relations without open questions are reflected also in excellent cooperation within the European Union and international organisations.
