The Slovenian Tourist Board (STO) reported that the French Le Monde, which has around 2.9 million readers per day, ranked Bohinj at the top of the list of 20 best tourist destinations for 2023. "In the heart of the Julian Alps, the magic of the lake with its changing reflections impresses visitors in all seasons. It is an ideal place to recharge your batteries amid breath-taking panoramas and golden lake shores", read the magazine's reasoning as summarised by the Slovenian Tourist Board.

The American Forbes has published a list of destinations to travel to responsibly and sustainably in 2023. Slovenia has been highlighted as a winter destination. "The winters in Slovenia are full of magic far away from the city lights, in the embrace of high, snow-capped peaks, warmed by the scent of mulled wine,” said Uršula Kordiš of Wanderlux Journeys in a statement to Forbes.

Forbes has also published a list of the best newly opened hotels worth visiting in the coming year. The boutique Milka hotel in Kranjska Gora was included on the list. “The owners, a team of local young experts, took the whole project as an opportunity to create and share the best encounter with Slovenian cuisine and culture,” wrote Forbes.

A list of top destinations for 2023 was also issued by the media publisher, which publishes Rough Guides. Ljubljana was ranked tenth and described as “a green and clean capital with plenty of picturesque charm”, according to the Slovenian Tourist Board.
