Good fortune to you, Slovenia.
The year behind us was a year of great challenges. From the COVID-19 pandemic and the war in Ukraine, to the rising prices. But it was also a year that brought many positive things to Slovene society.
One of the most important achievements of this government during the last six months is that we have returned a sense of normality to Slovene society. The normality that comes from an open society believing in the rule of law. An open society based on respect for human rights and the dignity of every individual. And it is precisely this kind of atmosphere that makes it possible to bring out the best in people. To unlock all our potential, to combine all our virtues so that we can help the community to a better future. Indeed, we will need all of this. We will need it in the coming year, because 2023 will be a year of reforms. A year of reforms to address all the challenges that have been building up over the last 30 years. We want to completely change the way public health services work, we want to reform both justice and education. Along with pension system reform, and housing policy reform. And finally, tax reform. All of these together, we believe, can be the foundation for the modernisation of our country in a way that will turn Slovenia into a modern European state we can all be proud of wherever we represent it.
I hope you all embrace the year 2023 with immense positive energy. Positive energy to live up to your potential, and positive energy to channel your strengths into the achievement of your ambitions and goals.
I also wish us all plenty of courage in 2023. Courage to lead Slovenia to a better future.
