State Secretary Štucin holds consultations with Polish EU Minister
The two officials expressed their commitment to further deepening the friendly ties and the extensive relations between Slovenia and Poland. They had an in-depth exchange of views on the situation in Ukraine, including the issue of accountability for war crimes. They stressed the importance of continuous support to Ukraine and of maintaining EU pressure on the Russian Federation. Concerning the Western Balkans, State Secretary Štucin advocated strong support for the countries of the region on their European path, as EU enlargement with the countries of this region is in Slovenia's strategic interest.
The high officials also exchanged views on current EU affairs, in particular on strengthening the competitiveness of the European economy, finding common solutions in the field of energy, and the future of Europe. They also discussed migration, with State Secretary Štucin calling for the full functioning of the Schengen area and the abolition of controls at internal borders.
