Slovenia joins the Peace Day Effort for Middle East Peace initiative
Slovenia will take part in the Peace Day Effort initiative, which aims to deliver concrete actions to show Israelis and Palestinians the support they will receive once they reach a peace agreement. As a supporter of the initiative, Slovenia will participate in all three Working Groups, which will focus on security, on the economy and the environment, and on the human dimension.
The initiative was launched at a ministerial meeting on the sidelines of the 78th UN General Assembly organised by the foreign ministers of the EU, Saudi Arabia, Egypt and Jordan, and the Secretary-General of the Arab League. Slovenia was represented by Tanja Fajon, Minister of Foreign and European Affairs.
Belgian Foreign Minister Hadja Lahbib will host a meeting in Brussels on 13-14 November to launch the three Working Groups tasked with identifying the substantive elements of the Peace Supporting Package. Slovenia supports all efforts for peace in the Middle East and will take an active part in the initiative and in the Working Group meetings.
