A Visit of the Director General of the Austrian State Archives to the Archives of the Republic of Slovenia
Inter-Institutional Cooperation Agreement
Dr. Wohnout, Director General of the Austrian State Archives, Dr. Andrej Nared, Acting Director of the Archives of the Republic of Slovenia, and his colleagues discussed the close cooperation that exists between the Slovenian and Austrian state archives and stressed the importance of further mutual assistance in researching archival cultural heritage.
In 1996, the two archives signed a mutual Agreement on Cooperation Between the General Direction of the Austrian State Archives and the Archives of the Republic of Slovenia, which became one of the foundations on which the close cooperation between both institutions has been built. The directors agreed that after almost three decades the agreement now needed to be updated so as to include the progress made in digitization of archival records and services. The updated agreement is expected to be signed in Vienna in the first half of 2024.
After a tour of the Gruber Palace, Dr. Wohnout visited the construction site of the newly built archival building at 40 Poljanska Street, where all archival employees, their offices, workshops and laboratories are expected to move in 2024 from the baroque palace on the banks of the Ljubljanica river that we are currently occupying.
