Minister Jevšek addresses the 12th Annual Forum of the EU Strategy for the Danube Region
In his address, Minister Jevšek underlined that we need a strong, resilient and flexible Cohesion Policy strongly linked to other EU policies, which supports good cooperation between countries and institutions.
“Today, more than ever, it is important to work together, to share experiences, to build partnerships and to be friends,” he added.
Slovenia took over the EUSDR Presidency last November. EUSDR is the European Union’s second macro-regional strategy, adopted in 2010 by the European Commission to create synergies and coordinate existing policies and initiatives in the Danube Region. The strategy brings together 14 countries along the Danube and covers an area of 112 million inhabitants or one-fifth of the European Union’s population.
The strategy focuses on four pillars. Under each pillar, priority areas are identified for concrete cooperation actions:
- Connecting the region
- Protecting the environment
- Ensuring prosperity
- Strengthening the region
