Prime Minister Dr Robert Golob: Start of accession negotiations with Ukraine and Moldova, EU Member States unanimous on Bosnia and Herzegovina
Slovenia’s position is clear: Europe needs stability, including sufficient resources to help populations after natural disasters. Government leaders will discuss the situation in the Middle East tomorrow.
In the evening, Prime Minister Golob told the Slovenian media that Ukraine and Moldova have been given the green light for rapprochement. “The European Council also adopted an important decision for Bosnia and Herzegovina, namely to open negotiations, but under conditions that the country must fulfil,” said Prime Minister Golob. He pointed out that there had been almost no opposition and that negotiations were expected to start in March: “The European Union has never been as united on Bosnia and Herzegovina as it is today. This is an important message.”
In September this year, the Prime Minister addressed a letter to the President of the European Council Charles Michel on the importance of EU enlargement to the Western Balkans, in which he expressed his expectation that the leaders would decide on the opening of accession negotiations with Bosnia and Herzegovina by the end of this year.
