Prime Minister Robert Golob meets with Jordanian Foreign Minister Ayman Safadi
The meeting was a follow-up to the Prime Minister's talks with King Abdullah II of Jordan on the sidelines of the Munich Security Conference.
Foreign Minister Safadi again thanked Slovenia for maintaining its balanced, peaceful positions in accordance with the principles of international law. He also praised our role in the European Union and the UN Security Council, and thanked the United Nations Relief and Works Agency for Palestine Refugees (UNRWA) for its support.
During the meeting, Prime Minister Golob and Foreign Minister Safadi mainly focused on the 'day after' in both Gaza and the West Bank. They emphasised that the two-state solution remains the only viable political solution to the conflict, and acknowledged the need for diligent efforts to build on previous agreements that regrettably remain unimplemented. Restoring peace and political prospects and giving the Palestinian people renewed hope for progress and security were highlighted as key objectives.
The Arab side is working on a comprehensive peace plan and expects European support when it is finalised.
Prime Minister Golob pledged Slovenia's support for all efforts of the Arab Group to reach a political solution acceptable to both sides and for the benefit of the people on both sides.
