Prime Minister Golob on Civil Protection Day: Our sincere thanks and deepest respect
In his address, he stressed that the civil protection structure is excellently organised, relies on volunteerism and responds not only quickly, but also with solidarity and humanity. And it is this solidarity and humanity that creates trust, which, according to the Prime Minister, is crucial for people to listen to the Civil Protection and to feel that they are safe every day, not just in the event of natural disasters. "It is the duty of the Government to listen to your needs and to meet the challenges of our time. While change cannot happen overnight, we are working to improve the system based on your selflessness. As Prime Minister, I am extremely proud of this. I would describe you in two words: a big heart. That big heart of yours, with which you volunteer to help your fellow human beings in times of need, is a guiding principle that we should all follow," concluded Prime Minister Golob in his address to the Civil Protection representatives.
Civil Protection Day is celebrated on 1 March. This day is dedicated to honouring all members of the emergency services, whether volunteers or professionals, who show solidarity and help people in times of need. In a community where civil protection is effectively organised and is functioning well, its role becomes vital for the protection of people, infrastructure and the natural environment. The operation of civil protection also has a long-term impact on the resilience of society and its ability to recover from disasters.
At the ceremony, bronze, silver and gold awards and plaques were presented. Bojan Kopač received this year's highest award, the Statuette of the Civil Protection of the Republic of Slovenia.
