Prime Minister Robert Golob meets President of the Jacques Delors Institute Enrico Letta
At the meeting, the Prime Minister stressed the importance of an integrated, developed and competitive internal market of the European Union for Slovenia. He advocated that any strategic debate on the EU internal market should also include the aspect of EU enlargement, which Slovenia strongly supports.
Golob and Letta addressed the importance of easing barriers to cross-border services for the Slovenian economy and of investing in the green economy in the context of the continent's energy security. They also highlighted the importance of establishing a Capital Markets Union (CMU), which could become a framework for the implementation of the green transition. They agreed on the importance of a common European approach in the field of development of the defence industry. At the end of the meeting, Prime Minister Golob also highlighted the role of young people for the future development of the EU.
The European Council has entrusted Letta with the task of preparing a report with specific and ambitious recommendations on the future of the European Union's single market. In his report, Letta will focus on four themes that are of key importance for the further development of the market: defence, energy, telecommunications and finance. The report will be presented at the special European Council meeting in April this year.
