The first meeting between Prime Minister Robert Golob and the National Council of Disability Organisations of Slovenia took place on 2 August 2022. At the meeting, both sides stressed their desire to see concrete solutions that would constitute a shift towards improving the situation of persons with disabilities in Slovenia. To this end, a government focus group was established, composed of representatives of the Government and representatives of the National Council of Disability Organisations of Slovenia, which coordinates inter-ministerial issues and works at operative level in terms of finding a comprehensive solution to disability issues.
At today's meeting with the Prime Minister, they reviewed the conclusions adopted at the seven meetings of the government focus group held so far and discussed the systemic funding of the National Council of Disability Organisations of Slovenia and the event which is being organised jointly with the National Council of Disability Organisations of Slovenia by the European Disability Forum to take place in Ljubljana in May 2024. Regarding the systemic funding of the National Council of Disability Organisations of Slovenia, they worked together to find an appropriate solution and agreed to make this an item for the next focus group meeting. The President of the National Council of Disability Organisations of Slovenia, Mateja Toman, expressed her appreciation to Prime Minister Robert Golob for the constructive cooperation of the government focus group in the period 2022–2023, presented the international cooperation with the European Disability Forum and invited him to a meeting with their representatives, which is scheduled to take place in Ljubljana at the beginning of May, on the occasion of the EDF Annual General Assembly.
She thanked the Prime Minister for his support in the regulation of the National Assembly Election Act, which gave all persons with disabilities the right to vote and to stand for election, and presented to him the project “A nationwide awareness-raising campaign on the social inclusion of persons with disabilities”.
