Agreement on the method of implementing the protest demands of Slovenian farmers

At today’s correspondence session, the Government read the document on the protest demands of Slovenian farmers and the announced nationwide protest by farmers involving the Farmers’ Union of Slovenia, the Chamber of Agriculture and Forestry of Slovenia, the Cooperative Union of Slovenia, the Slovenian Rural Youth Association, the Association of Hill and Mountain Farmers of Slovenia, and the Women Farmers Association of Slovenia.

The Government of the Republic of Slovenia authorised Mateja Čalušić, the Minister of Agriculture, Forestry and Food, to sign the Agreement on the method of implementing the protest demands of Slovenian farmers.

The Government of the Republic of Slovenia and agricultural organisations are concluding the Agreement on the method of implementing the protest demands of Slovenian farmers, which is linked to the fulfilment of the protest demands contained in the document submitted to the Prime Minister by the agricultural organisations on 7 March 2024. On the day of the signing of the Agreement on the method of implementing the protest demands of Slovenian farmers, the negotiations on key protest demands are completed. With regard to the remaining demands, a standard procedure with regular inclusion of agricultural organisations is established through the work process of the Ministry of Agriculture, Forestry and Food, which is responsible for the entire system of operation of agriculture, forestry and food, the Ministry of Finance and the Ministry of Natural Resources and Spatial Planning.
