Prime Minister Golob: Healthy eating and sports go hand in hand
In his address, the Prime Minister said, "it is an honour to be here with you for this unique event. I believe that you young people will get a lot out of the Games, not only because you will strengthen your bodies and minds through competition, but above all because you will forge strong bonds of friendship." He observed that the Sports Games, which bring together young people from countries around the region, are an excellent way of making regional coexistence even more exemplary and, above all, friendlier for future generations.
The Prime Minister also highlighted fair play, which is an indispensable element of a good athletic performance, alongside a healthy degree of competition, adding, "it is the losses that teach us the most.” He also underlined the importance of healthy eating: "I believe you are aware of the importance of healthy eating because it is one of the ways to achieve better results. Healthy eating and sports go hand in hand."
Athletics are an important element in young people’s development and, in the past, Prime Minister Golob has repeatedly stressed the importance of regular physical activity and a healthy lifestyle. Participation in sports from childhood onwards has a major impact on positive attitudes towards physical activity, as it is a way to develop good habits and skills, while sport also provides a stimulating environment for young people to socialise and bond.
