EU funding for public informing and alerting system, including the transmission of warning notifications

The Ministry of Cohesion and Regional Development has approved EU funding for the call for proposals to finance the establishment, maintenance and management of a public informing and alerting system, including the transmission of warning notifications.

The EU co-funded call for proposals will finance the establishment, maintenance and management of a mass public informing and alerting system, which will transmit warning notifications target group mobile phones, such as notification in the event of natural and other disasters and alerting in the event of imminent danger. The establishment of this system will increase the security of the country by providing timely information and notifications to the public through various communication channels. The system will also provide information and notifications for the deaf and hard of hearing. Public notification and alerting by means of warning notifications from the Administration of the Republic of Slovenia for Civil Protection and Disaster Relief will be free of charge for the end-user of mobile services.

The call for proposals to finance the establishment, maintenance and management of a public informing and alerting system, including the transmission of warning notifications, is implemented under Slovenia’s EU Cohesion Policy Programme 2021-2027, under the priority Digital connectivity and pursues the specific objective Reaping the benefits of digitisation for citizens, companies, research organisations and public authorities.

The call for proposals is worth EUR 3,499,999.99, with the European Regional Development Fund contribution standing at over EUR 2 million, i.e., EUR 2,152,692.49.

The call for proposals, which contributes to achieving the objectives of Slovenia’s EU Cohesion Policy Programme 2021-2027, will be published by the Ministry of Digital Transformation in the Official Gazette of the Republic of Slovenia, scheduled for today, 17 May 2024.
