State Secretary Danijel Levičar at the SEEnergy International Fair
On the second unit of the Krško Nuclear Power Plant (NPP2) project, he said, among other things, "The Government plays a key role in supporting and steering the NPP2 project, and by forming a Government Task Force we have enabled active involvement in the project, which has also passed an audit by the Court of Audit of the Republic of Slovenia. Following the example of the Netherlands, where the Ministry of Economic Affairs and Climate Policy has a nuclear team of 40 people, which is to be expanded to 65 by the end of the year, Slovenia has yet to establish a professional and stable government team dedicated to nuclear projects."
The State Secretary and Dejan Paravan, General Director of GEN Energy, pointed out in the discussion that support for the project to build a new nuclear power plant in Krško has significantly increased in recent years and is comparable to support for such facilities in the Netherlands or in the UK.
On the sidelines of the conference, the State Secretary met with Anne Falchi, representative of EDF (Électricité de France) and Strategy Director and Head of Business Development for Slovenia. He also met with two Westinghouse representatives, Roman Romanowski, Senior Vice President of Westinghouse, and Miroslav Kowalik, Managing Director of Westinghouse Poland. Finally, he met with the Dutch delegation, which included the Dutch Ambassador to Slovenia, Johan Verboom, and the following representatives of the Dutch Ministry of Economic Affairs and Climate Policy: Maxine Tillij, Director of the Energy System Strategy, Sophie van Eck, Head of the EU International Energy Policy Unit, Sanne Echten, Head of Unit International Affairs Nuclear Energy, and Marleen de Haan, Adviser. State Secretary Levičar discussed the status of the NPP2 project and shared experiences with other participants in the discussion.
