Inauguration of the new Embassy of the Republic of Slovenia in Tirana

On May 22, 2024, the President of the Republic of Slovenia dr. Nataša Pirc Musar and the President of the Republic of Albania, Bajram Begaj, inaugurated the new premises of the Embassy of the Republic of Slovenia in Tirana on Rruga ˝Skënderbej˝.

The ceremony was attended by both presidential delegations, the Mayor of Tirana Erion Veliaj, Albanian Minister for Europe and Foreign Affairs Igli Hasani, heads of diplomatic missions in Tirana, the Slovenian community in Albania and prominent Albanian personalities.

In her speech, President dr. Pirc Musar emphasized that the opening of the new premises symbolizes the strengthening of diplomatic ties between the two countries, which have already grown into a strong partnership based on mutual respect, common values ​​and goals. After cutting the ribbon on the new premises, she and President Begaj toured the Embassy, ​​accompanied by the Minister for Europe and Foreign Affairs and the Mayor of Tirana.

The inauguration was accompanied by a concert by a chamber quintet led by Neville Kalaja Herczegh, a renowned violinist and director of the Chamber Music Festival in Durrës.

In the evening, the two presidents attended the inaugural performance of Sonatina, a classical music piece composed by Slovenian composer Bojan Adamič in 1947 in Tirana. It was performed by the orchestra of the Albanian Radio and Television under the baton of conductor Simon Krečič, artistic director of the Opera of Slovene National Theatre Maribor.
