In his address, Prime Minister Dr Golob stressed that housing policy is one of the areas that the Government has been working on since the beginning of its mandate. "Today, I am very pleased to announce some measures that will radically change this area," he said. A number of institutions have so far dealt with the problem of the shortage of public non-profit housing in Slovenia. "We are committed to working with them, under one legislative framework and with the help of funding provided by the Government, to give a boost to this area," the Prime Minister noted.

Dr Golob mentioned that the Government of the Republic of Slovenia had in recent months discussed in great deal how and under what conditions the Government could finance the construction of public housing in the coming years, and at tomorrow's meeting it would be approving the starting points for a new law to regulate investment in the construction of public rental housing.  "The Government will provide up to EUR 100 million each year over the next ten years to fund public housing across the country. We will give priority to housing built by the Republic's housing funds and local funds," emphasised Prime Minister Dr Golob.

According to the Prime Minister, the announced changes in housing policy send an encouraging message to young people, who will be able to live in more affordable housing in the future. "Public housing is precisely about making the period of making one's own home something that is accessible to all," concluded Prime Minister Dr Robert Golob.
