Minister Fajon and UAE Minister continue talks in Ljubljana on strengthening cooperation

Minister Tanja Fajon received the Minister of Foreign Affairs of the United Arab Emirates, Abdullah bin Zayed Al Nahyan, on a working visit to Slovenia to continue the talks they started in Abu Dhabi in May, focusing on strengthening economic cooperation between the two countries.

Minister Fajon and Minister bin Zayed discussed the deepening of bilateral relations between Slovenia and the UAE, particularly in the economic field. She was pleased to note the UAE's interest in investing in Slovenia and increasing trade. "The UAE are interested in tourism, business, transport and artificial intelligence. We talked a lot about strengthening economic cooperation and signing three memorandums of understanding in the near future. They are also interested in renewable energy and technologies," said Minister Fajon, adding that the visit was short but productive. "The visit of Minister bin Zayed just weeks after the talks in Abu Dhabi reflects the positive relations between our two countries," she said. There are several Slovenian companies operating in the UAE and opportunities for cooperation are opening up. The UAE ranks second among the Gulf countries in terms of trade volume with Slovenia.

Minister Fajon also mentioned the possibility of establishing cooperation in the culture and higher education, and between diplomatic academies.

During bin Zayed's visit to Slovenia, the two ministers also discussed current international issues, in particular the situation in the Middle East and the resolution of the Israeli-Palestinian conflict. "We talked specifically about how Slovenia could help the children of Gaza, where the United Arab Emirates have done a great deal. We discussed how Slovenia could try to provide assistance to the children of Gaza through the UAE," added Minister Fajon.
